Who is Utopia?
Utopia Records was established in 1978 as Australia's premiere Heavy Metal Store, supplying everything under the sun that metal fans need to make their lives complete! We've gone from a small store in Martin Place to our current HUGE 2-level location on Broadway!

We stock - CDs, Vinyl, Teeshirts, Jewellery, posters, DVDs, stickers, autographs, collectables, patches, books, caps, band logo undies (!!), figurines, magazines, .....if it's COOL and METAL/HARD ROCK, chances are WE'VE GOT IT!!! We also BUY and TRADE secondhand and collectable cds, vinyl, autographs, DVD's...pretty much EVERYTHING!

We have an extensive selection of rare and out of print titles from overseas, as well as standard releases, with orders arriving several times weekly. Can't find that hard-to-get record or DVD? Let us know and we'll try our best to track it down for you! You'll also find a large selection of autographed movie memorabilia and loads of deluxe-edition movie box sets!

How can I find what you have in stock?
Easy! We have an easy-to-use stock search function on this website, just located to the top right of your screen. You can either browse by department in the menu or search for a specific artist using the browse function.

Everything is listed alphabetically and is updated daily. If we have it in stock, it will show up in the search list.

Can I order stuff through your website?
Yes, you can! Use our “SHOP ONLINE��? (as explained above) to find what you want. Once you’ve found the item, you’ll see the word ‘Buy!’ in red at the end of the stock line.
Once you click on ‘Buy!’, you’ll be taken to the “View Cart��? section, which will give you a total quote, including postage.
You can choose from this page to either Check Out (purchase item), Empty Cart, or go Back to Shopping to add more items to your cart before you finalise your order.

If there is something you want that you can’t find on our website, simply send us an email to: contact@utopia.com.au telling us what you want to order. Please be as specific as possible, so we can get back to you asap.

We'll let you know straight away if the item is able to be ordered.

Can I pre-order stuff through your website?
Yes! You can pre-order new release albums by emailing us at contact@utopia.com.au with your details and the album details. We’ll contact you as soon as the album arrives, and put aside a copy of the album for you!

Do you do Mail Order?
Yes, we do! If you have ordered something but can't make it into the store to pick it up in person, we'll post it out to you!
Postal charges (for inside Australia)

• 1 x CD $4.50
• 1 - 4 x CD / DVD/ up to 2 t-shirts $8.00
• 5 x CD or more (up to 3kg)/1-3 LPS $11.30

Do you sell tickets to gigs?
Yes we do! For an up-to-date list of tickets we’re currently selling, or to enquire about a particular show, email us at contact@utopia.com.au and we’ll get back to you pronto!

Do you have Instore appearances by bands?
Yes, we do! We advertise these in the 'Events' section of the website, in our Newsletters to database subscribers, and in street press advertising. Check back regularly! Check out the 'Events' section for photos of past instores!!

I have some cds/ vinyl/ autographs etc I'd like to sell - how to I go about that?
Just bring them into the store for us to have a look at and we'll give you a price for cash or trade on the spot!
If it's a large collection you want to sell, send us an email with a list and we'll go through it and get back to you.

Do you take consignments of stock?
Yes, we do.
You'll need to be registered with an ABN # and be able to invoice us for stock. If you’re interested in selling your stock through consignment with us, please send an email to contact@utopia.com.au requesting consignment info & forms. We’ll send you back a copy of our consignment forms for you to fill out, and we’ll go from there.

Please don’t send us cds without filling out the forms first!

 

How do I tell what size a t-shirt or fashion item is?

Click on "Tees" or "Fashion" in the "Shop Online" Menu to right of the page. For each t-shirt or fashion item listed, you will see "More Info". Click on this to see the size of the item.

You can also browse t-shirts by size in the "Shop Online" menu on the top right of the page.

If we don't list the size of the item you are after, we can order in it in the size you want. You can either call us on 9571 6662 or email at contact@utopia.com.au.

How Can I Sign up for Your Newsletter?

Easy! On the main page of our site (HOME), towards the top, you’ll see the words- Join the Utopia Records Email List.
Just fill in your details in the white boxes and you're set! Don't worry - we won't give your details to ANYONE else. They are just for our own reference!
To update your details at any time, just email contact@utopia.com.au with your old email address and your new email address and we’ll update our information.

Why should I sign up?
Apart from getting our ace Newsletters delivered straight to your inbox, you'll also be the first to know about special offers, sales and promotions that we have running in the store!

How do I unsubscribe?

Easy! Send us an email to contact@utopia.com.au with UNSUBSCRIBE in the title, and we’ll take you off our list.

Do you take Work Experience?
Yes, we do, but we are booked up quite often well in advance! If you are interested in doing Work Experience with us, send us an email letting us know a bit about yourself and some contact details so we can get in touch with you if we have a vacancy. Most importantly - don't leave it til the last minute!

How can I send you my resume?

Can we send out catalogues of what we have in stock?
No. We simply have too much stock, and a lot of stock that turns over to quickly to make having a catalogue feasible!
This is why we have the ‘SHOP ONLINE��? search option on our website. And if you can't find it listed there, just ask! We'll do our best to track it down for you!

What is a 'white label promo'?

Record company issued promotional vinyl with a white, not coloured or printed label. Usually only given to radio or DJ's, and usually only printed up in amounts less than 1000 units.

What is 'virgin vinyl'?

Most records are printed on 'recycled' vinyl which can contain paper and other tracies of undesirable noise making impurities. Virgin vinyl is noise-free because it has no impurities at all!!

Do you do Gift Vouchers?
Yes, we do! They can be purchased at the store in person, or by Mail Order.

Can I return / exchange things?
Yes. We do accept returns on any item purchased except 'sale' and 'collectable' items. You will need to bring in your receipt of purchase. We're happy to give you a Credit Note for use in the store but can't give cash refunds, sorry!

If an item is faulty, we'll gladly change it for another copy, or something else, or give a Credit Note.

If an item is simply an incorrect choice and you want to exchange it, it will need to be in PERFECT condition, and you'll need to have your receipt.
